I am constantly reminded of the sincere love, admiration and trust I saw in the eyes of the children I cared for and it is those memories I take with me when I pre-screen applicants for either a nanny or babysitting job. Being thousands of miles away from my own elderly grand-father and entrusting his care to someone else makes me aware of all his vulnerabilities and the need in my business to ensure that I am matching the right companion with an elderly client. I make no apologies for the high standards we require of our applicants or the fact that our business philosophy is that we will not refer anyone we deem not suitable to work in our own homes. Building on the small island mentality that we are each other’s keeper and that basic human dignity must be respected, is one of the focus point at my consultation with the hiring families.
