Dear family, A housekeeper’s main responsibility is to do general household cleaning. This normally includes, but is not limited to, vacuuming, mopping, dusting and polishing furniture, and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens. Too often, cleaning companies send employees to homes with the intention to clean, but the work is either sub-standard or the domestic worker lacks adequate communication skills making it difficult for the home-owner to convey his or her needs. The price to clean your home depends on several factors. These include: type and frequency of cleaning, inclusion or exclusion of supplies, the volume of work needed to ensure thorough cleaning, the size of the house and the length of time needed to perform the duties requested. When considering what type of employee to hire for household cleaning the following options should be kept in mind depending on your family’s needs and economic situation: you may choose to employ a housekeeper
who will provide cleaning services once or several times a week, bi-weekly, live-in or live-out. In some cases it may be less expensive and more practical to employ a full-time housekeeper who would be able to multi-task and help ease your workload by performing errands such as grocery shopping, cooking, transporting dry-cleaning or occasionally being the extra pair of eyes on the kids. Some housekeepers may use their own cleaning supplies but the decision as to what type of cleaning products used depends on the family’s personal preference. As a mother it is my advice to be sensible about harsh cleaning chemicals in the home especially if you have young children.
